In June we were thrilled to announce that we had been awarded £14,944 through Arts Council England's National Lottery Project Grants scheme to launch a new project, A New Beginning.
The award is enabling us to commission new works by diverse professional choreographers, develop performance skills, test new work, support exchanges with other elders companies, and support the transition from community to professional organisationally. We are about to enter the R&D stage of a mixed bill that will tour to small-scale venuesacross the UK and internationally in 2018-20. The triple bill will feature the work from four works by professional artists - Jose Agudo, Artistic Director Jason Keenan Smith, Ben Duke, and a fourth which will follow an international call out for a world-class female choreographer aged 60+.
The triple bill will be a unique experience of contrasting dance that will inspire audiences with the artistic quality of a group of mature dancers bringing their experiences from beyond the stage. Our mission has always been to challenge hearts and minds and promote health through the art of contemporary dance. We hope this project will be a new beginning for what dance audiences can expect from professional contemporary dance
